Kathmandu-The Ministry of Health and Population on Tuesday recorded 4,524 new cases of coronavirus. Similarly, eighteen persons lost lives to the virus in the last 24 hours.
In this connection, Ministry of Health and Population has directed all hospitals to close down outpatient department (OPD) treatment for some days.
Writing a letter to all hospitals on Tuesday in the wake of second wave of Covid-19, the Ministry directed the hospitals to postpone the OPD treatment and elective surgery service to ease the management of Covid-19 patients.
Co-Spokesperson at the Ministry Dr Samir Kumar Adhikari informed that the hospitals were however asked to continue emergency service.
Moreover, the medical and health persons and staffs at hospitals are not allowed for long leave. Among the available human resources, 50 percent should be available and ensure service delivery, Dr Adhikari stressed.
He further informed that the Ministry would manage necessary human resources at hospitals in case of vacant posts. The hospitals are however directed to manage medical equipments and oxygen needed at ICU and emergency.
