President Bidya Devi Bhandari, who is on a visit to Sri Lanka, has today visited Kelaniya temple at Colombo and paid homage to Lord Buddha.
On the occasion, President Bhandari was welcomed by Chief of Kelaniya Raja Maha Vihara, Mahinda Sangarakkitha and Temple Chief Basnayake Nilame.
Maha Vihara Chief Sangarakkitha briefed President Bhandari about historical aspects of the temple and its importance.
Minister for General Administration Keshab Kumar Budhathoki, Foreign Affairs expert at the Office of the President Dr Madan Kumar Bhattarai and Secretary Bhupendra Prasad Poudel, Joint-Secretary at the Foreign Ministry Bhrigu Dhungana, chief of protocol Deepak Adhikari, among others were present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, President Bhandari is scheduled to attend women empowerment programme to be organised by Sri Lankan Ministry of Women and Child Affairs today itself.
