Nepali Congress General Secretary has said that the impeachment motion against the Chief Justice had to be introduced as questions were raised over the independence and impartiality of the judiciary.
Speaking at the regular press briefing organised by the party at its headquarters today, Koirala said the NC wants independent and impartial judiciary and for this the party leaders decided on the impeachment.
Likewise, NC central leader Ramesh Lekhak said the motion was not targeted on the judiciary but only against a judge who stood as an obstacle to making the judiciary independent, impartial, dignified and strong.
NC central member and former General Secretary Krishna Prasad Sitoula said since the motion of impeachment is under consideration at the parliament it will be dealt with through the parliament itself.
