Former Prime Minister and Naya Shakti Party Nepal (NSPN) Coordinator Dr Baburam Bhattarai has warned to not allow polls to take place if his party was not given the portrait of ‘Eye’ as an election symbol.
“We do not permit the conduction of elections till the symbol is provided”, Dr Bhattarai said while addressing the grand public gathering organized by NSPN at Palungtar of Gorkha on Saturday.
Recalling that he had played crucial role in the making of the national charter, leader Dr Bhattarai argued that the NSPN should obtain the election symbol as the party was registered after meeting the required process as per the constitution. “We would obtain the election symbol, Eye. Let all leaders and cadres engross efforts for polls campaign”, he said.
Dr Bhattarai accused Prime Minister and Maoist Centre Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ of preventing Naya Shakti from obtaining election symbol. “It is a sinful decision as part of conspiracy to deprive the party registered at the Election Commission through due process of getting election symbol”, Bhattarai further said.
He went on saying that, “Prime Minister Prachanda is sitting in the lap of RPP chairperson Kamal Thapa. So, Prachanda told EC to address the demands of Thapa”.
The former Prime Minster also asked the parties and the government to bring onboard Madhes-based parties to election by amending the constitution.
