Prime Minister and CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, has summoned a meeting of the five political parties to discuss the forthcoming local polls and contemporary issues.
A meeting among the senior leaders of Nepali Congress, CPN (UML), Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) and Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (Democratic) will take place at PM’s official residence at Baluwatar, PM’s Secretariat said.
The leaders are expected to deliberate on how to make the local polls a success and bring onboard the disgruntled sides. The local level elections are taking place on May 14 after a hiatus of almost two decades.
The meeting comes at a time when the United Democratic Madhesi Front has announced protest programmes aimed at foiling the election. The fringe parties, on the other hand, have been staging sit in before the Parliament demanding election symbols.
Meanwhile, the largest political party, Nepali Congress, has said the election can be held in two phases if the UDMF agrees to take part in the election.
