Kathmandu- The national flag carrier Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has reconnected Chainpur of Bajhang, Sanphe of Achham and Dipayal of Doti through its service.
This follows that earlier Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Prem Bahadur Ale had directed the NAC to include the above-mentioned destinations in its regular flight service.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) chief for Dhangadhi-based Geta Airport, Ram Krishna Bhatta, at present, the NAC has been operating its regular flights for Chainpur, Sanphe and Dipayal airports twice a week (Monday and Friday) while the service for Bajura is based on the number of aspiring passengers.
It said the service resumption has caused convenience for the passengers, which resulted in the increment in their numbers as compared to the past.
The NAC had suspended its services to the hilly districts of Sudurpashim Province sometime ago citing a lack of passengers and aircraft as well. But private airlines companies would arrange occasional flights on a need basis.
The NAC has however yet to reach Patan Airport, Baitadi with its service. The private airline, Summit Air, has been operating its flights to Patan Airport.
NAC executive officer Yuba Raj Adhikari said homework was underway to operate regular flights to other hilly districts in Sudurpaschim. (RSS)
