Kathmandu- Deputy Prime Minister Ishwar Pokhrel has said the government’s sole efforts are not complete to take the fight against the COVID-19 to a success, thus the government and people should work hand-in-hand to beat the virus. Talking to media on Friday as the coordinator of Covid-19 Crisis Management Center at Singha Durbar, the DPM said the entire human community was struggling against the virus, it had been a common issue of all and the government and people should join hands to cope with the crisis.
Stating that the government through the April 26 Cabinet decision had issued an order relating to the prevention and control of the second wave of the pandemic characterized by the new variant, the DPM said this move was taken bearing in mind the state’s responsibility towards the citizens.
“The main tool to control the virus is that it should not be considered the government is solely responsible to act against the pandemic,” he observed.
People are expected to be aware of its consequences and take safety measure realising this is for our own good. It is very challenging for the government to deal with the crisis if it does not get support and cooperation from the people’s level, according to DPM Pokhrel.
“We have made all arrangements required for health and life of people.’’ COVID-19 health facilities established earlier would be further strengthened, he said, adding that over 1.8 million people had already been vaccinated against the virus.
The Ministry and Health and Population has proceeded towards procurement of additional jabs of vaccines, according to him.
