Kathmandu- Nepal has recorded gradual increase in coronavirus infection in recent weeks. The Ministry of Health and Population recorded 2,351 new cases of coronavirus infection in the country today alone- 500 more than the record yesterday.
Spokesperson at the Ministry, Dr Jageshwor Gautam, shared that last Friday, there were 900 cases which gradually increased- 842 on Saturday; 1,096 on Sunday; 1,281 on Monday; and 1736 on Tuesday.
Today’s infection was resulted after the PCR tests on 8,884 persons and antigen test on 803 persons. Among 803 antigen tests, 131 were found positive for the coronavirus.
With this, the total number of infection in the country reached 289,787.
The Kathmandu Valley alone witnessed 1,051 infections on Wednesday. Among them, Bhaktapur had 84, Lalitpur 181, and Kathmandu 786.
Spokesperson Dr Gautam further said number of people returning home with recovery stood 287 on Wednesday. Total number of people getting recovery reached 276093. The recovery rate is however 97.3 percent.
Currently, there are 10,582 active cases of coronavirus. Among them, 826 are in institutional isolation and 9,746 in home-based isolation. Similarly, 180 persons are receiving treatment at ICU and 47 with ventilator support.
In the last 24 hours, six persons lost lives to Covid-19. With this, the total fatalities reached 3112.
Spokesperson Dr Gautam added that among 803 undergone PCR test at nine Nepal-India border points, 131 were found positive for the coronavirus.
