WVAN Nepal has recently distributed relief materials to the flood victims of Garuda Municipality Ward No 7, of Rautahat District in the Terai part of Nepal. WVAN has distributed blanket, everyday food stuffs, and school supplies of the total value of $ 3000 to the 75 flood victim families. a Municipality have helped to the WVAN team to complete this mission. Seoul Volunteer Center and Won Buddhism in initiation of Ms. Yoonae Park from South Korea have provided about 40% financial help to purchase the relief materials. The national and local online news, radios and daily papers have covered the news.
According to the government statistics about 1.7 million people are reported to be affected by floods following heavy monsoon rains. Almost 461,000 people (91,400 families) have been displaced from their homes. About 65,000 Houses have been destroyed, 143 people lost their life, about 30 people are still missing and 43 people were injured. There are many villages outside the coverage of transport and communication link living very miserable life without food and shelter.
