The central committee meeting of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) held at party central office Dhumrabarahi in the capital today, has unanimously decided on the cow as the electoral symbol of the party, after a heated debate among leaders over the electoral symbol since long. The faction close to Pashupati Shamsher Rana and Prakash Chandra Lohani, who are from the former RPP, were retaining the plough as the electoral symbol, while those from the Kamal Thapa’s faction had sought to continue with the cow as the party’s electoral symbol. The meeting further has decided to launch ‘national unity procession campaign’ to be kicked off from June 21 to 25 across the country, said leader Rajaram Shrestha. The campaign will reach door to door across the nation and it will begin from Gorkha, Jhapa, Kanchanpur and Kathmandu valley, Shrestha added. On the occasion interaction on economic development and prosperity would be organized at various places as part of the campaign. The meeting has further welcomed the local poll and has urged the government to address the genuine demands of Tarai parties. RSS
