Kathmandu- The Press Council Nepal (PCN), an autonomous and independent media regulatory body set up by the government has blacklisted four news websites for violating the journalist’s code of conduct. The blacklisted online news portals include ehimalayan times.com, Birgunjcity.com, NRN khabar.com and Koshipati.com.
The PCN has decided to write to the Nepal Telecommunications Authority to stop ehimalayan times.com from disseminating news within the country as the news website has not been found registered as per the rules, said PCN’s spokesperson Dipak Khanal.
Self-monitoring of 450 media and journalists has taken place between 2077 BS and the Nepali month of Asar in 2078 BS. Self-monitoring of 13 media and journalists has taken place in the past 15 days. Of them, the attention of eight news portals, a media-person and a communications expert has been drawn while four news websites have been warned.
Meanwhile, the PCN has urged all journalists to abide by the code of conduct.
