Biratnagar : The no confidence motion against the Chief Minister of Province No. 1 has been withdrawn on Monday.
The no confidence motion lodged against Chief Minister Sher Dhan Rai as per the Article 188 (4) of the Constitution of Nepal and rule 129 (1) of Province Assembly Regulations, 2074 in the fourth meeting of the winter session of the Province Assembly was withdrawn, Speaker Pradip Kumar Bhandari informed.
Parliamentary party leader of CPN (Maoist Centre) Province No. 1 Indra Bahadur Angbo, who seconded the no confidence motion against Chief Minister Rai, said that chapter of the political revolution is not over though the proposal of no confidence motion was pulled out.
Extracting the no confidence motion, Rajendra Kumar Rai said that the decision was taken after the change in the political context.
However, the proposer and seconder criticised the province government for its failure to name the province, slashing the expenditure after passing the budget, not bringing new plans, and not releasing the fund for the previous projects.
At the province assembly meeting, Nepali Congress chief whip Kedar Karki argued that the parliamentary development fund should not be terminated at any cost.
He, however, asked the government to be economic and accountable to the people.
The next meeting of the province assembly is scheduled for April 8, Speaker Bhandari announced.
