Chief Justice Cholendra JB Rana has said that he was working continuously to reform the judicial system.
At a programme organized by Kanun Byabashahi Club on the occasion of the anniversary of its mouthpiece ‘Kanun’ (Law) here today, Chief Justice Rana argued that the judiciary would be safeguarded through good-governance.
On the occasion, the Chief Justice awarded and honoured those legal professionals who have made notable contributions in the judiciary sector of the country.
Stating that the awards would further encourage legal professionals to discharge their duties judiciously, Rana awarded former Chief Justice Ram Kumar Shah. The award carries a purse of Rs 100,000.
Receiving the award, former Chief Justice Shah expressed his sadness over the unnecessary comments on the judiciary system of our country.
Likewise, President of Nepal Bar Association Sher Bahadur KC stressed the need for carrying out investigations thoroughly before taking action against the suspect.
On the occasion, senior advocate Dr Chandra Kanta Gyawali was awarded with ‘the law excellent book award’. Chief Justice Rana handed the award, which carries a cash prize of Rs 75,000, to Gyawali. Likewise, advocate Sharad Koirala was honoured with ‘the law youth award’, which carries a purse of Rs 51,000. Other 16 persons were also honoured for writing excellently in law.
